Ontarians with Disabilities Act
The Ontarians with Disabilities Act imposes duties on the province of Ontario, municipalities and other institutions with respect to the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to the full participation of persons with disabilities in the life of the province. Under the Act, municipalities are required to prepare and make available accessibility plans that detail measures being taken by municipalities to identify, remove and prevent barriers affecting persons with disabilities. The Act is slated to be repealed at an as yet unspecified time; while the Act continues to be in force, it is being replaced by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
