Employment Standards Act
The Employment Standards Act sets out the minimum terms and conditions of employment in Ontario. The Act imposes on employers numerous obligations to their employees with respect to hours of work, overtime pay, minimum wage, holidays and vacation, leaves of absence, termination, etc. Service managers and housing providers should take note that special rules apply to building service providers (sections 75-78). Building service providers are defined in the Act as people who provide services for a building with respect to food, security and cleaning.
