Construction Lien Act
The Construction Lien Act provides that a person who supplies services or materials for an improvement to a premise for an owner, contractor or subcontractor has a lien upon the interest of the owner in the premises being improved for the price of those services or materials. Housing providers and service managers undertaking renovations will benefit from a familiarity with the remedies available under this Act to contractors, trades people and suppliers (See sections 14 to 21 and 68 to 69). Generally speaking, municipalities are bound by this Act.
